Among the many side quests in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, the one involving the White-Robed Elder stands out as particularly interesting. It’s wrapped in mystery, drawing you in to uncover the truth, and it also unlocks several achievements, an optional hidden boss, and a special ending.
If you want to see all the bosses, complete the achievements, and get a specific ending, completing this quest is essential. However, missing important steps along the way can prevent you from reaching these goals. Therefore, careful exploration and taking your time are highly recommended.
Where to Find the White-Robed Elder in Act One
The White-Robed Elder can initially be found at Shu Sanctum. He’s on the second floor, to the left of the altar, behind Qiao Ying (see the image above). Talk to him and exhaust all his dialogue options. When prompted, choose the dialogue option “…” (the default or placeholder response). After defeating the boss of Shu Sanctum, the Feathered Priest, he will move to his next location.
He can be encountered again at Doomwill Beach. Look for him near a dead tree after defeating the Great Centipede, Blightweaver. From the shrine:
- Turn around to find a path in a crevice that arcs to the right.
- At the stairs’ bottom, take a left at the fork.
- Continue straight until you find him standing near the dead tree.
Speaking to him here rewards you with a Crystallized Red Mercury. You need to exhaust all his dialogue to progress. There are no choices to make during this encounter.
Finding Him Again in Act Two
In Act Two, he is located in the Cloudspire Outskirts, past Hillswatch. You’ll have to climb towers where pyres can be lit. The first tower closest to the gate is where you can find him. Just before the top, he stands on the wooden path near the ladder. Talking to him will earn you another Crystallized Red Mercury, adding to your reward collection.
He appears again when transitioning from Act Two to Act Three, but this final encounter requires defeating Fang Ling at the Snowfall Palace. After that, head to the newly opened cave at Hillswatch, next to the town gate, and explore it.
- Follow the right path at all splits.
- You’ll find him atop a small hill, kneeling by a campfire, having a conversation with himself.
Talking to him here won’t require any dialogue choices, but he will give you a Flawless Red Mercury.
Helping the Elder in Act Three
Later, you can find him at the Refugee Camp, down the ladder from where He Youzai is located. When you talk to him, select “Agree” to continue his quest. Failing to do so will make progressing his story impossible.
Optional Location: The Avian Marsh
You can find the White-Robed Elder in the Avian Marsh area as well, although this is optional. To reach him:
- Start at the main Shrine.
- Exit right, follow the stream, and go left into a cave (beware the hidden clam inside).
- Drop over the ledge, take the first left, then proceed along the path past a nest guarded by two avians (where the Secret Letter is found).
- Continue straight through enemies, avoiding detours.
- After a long cave section, the Elder will be on a wooden bridge to the right.
Note: You don’t need to speak to him to complete his questline here. This section is purely optional, but if you choose to talk to him, be prepared for a lengthy march through the marsh, following the path carefully.
How to Find the Bo Sorcerer
Two methods exist to locate the Bo Sorcerer’s lair.
Method 1: Continue along the main path to the Avian Dwelling Shrine, then behind the shrine to reach the Sorcerer’s Dwelling.
Method 2: From the Rebel Camp, head down the hill, then right past tents to a shallow pool, and left to a cave entrance. Inside, you’ll find the boss arena. Along the way, there’s a shortcut you can open by destroying wooden wagons after passing the boss Buglio.
The Boss Fight: Summoning the Elder
During the battle against the Bo Sorcerer, summon the White-Robed Elder by using your Bone Whistle. While you must defeat the Sorcerer, the Elder does not need to survive. Focus on turning the boss into a rotisserie. Once he’s defeated, the Elder will move on to the Tomb.
Tip: If you struggle to summon him at the right moment, deal damage to the Sorcerer while staying behind the large tree in the arena for cover, as only the boss’s gold projectile attacks can penetrate the foliage.
The Tomb and the Elder’s Final Rewards
Inside the Tomb, the Elder kneels by a grave. Speak to him to receive the Tigraliz Pendant, which increases all damage dealt but also increases damage received. Afterward, you can return to the main story or continue other side quests.
Completing the Elder’s Quest
To fully complete his storyline, after the Fierce Tiger fight and unlocking the Bo Capital region, return to the Tomb. This time, the Elder reveals himself as the boss: Eternal Glory – Zhao Yun. For strategies, see our detailed boss guide.
Tip: Focus on builds that punish his wide backstab openings; critical hits will deal significant damage to Zhao Yun.
The Final Fight and Rewards
Defeat Zhao Yun to earn multiple rewards:
- Shu Army Board: unlocks the spear “Malice Sting” when given to Tao Qing.
- Cyan Feather Chisel: vital for unlocking a secret ending and final slot for Tempering.
- Echo of Zhao Yun: a spell that unleashes massive magic damage at the cost of four Skyborn Might.
After claiming these, use the Worship gesture in front of the main gravestone to gain the Loyalty Set, a powerful armor collection emphasizing physical damage.
This completes the White-Robed Elder’s storyline. Return to the main game or explore other NPC sidequests as desired.
