As the 2026 Met Gala kicks off, celebrities showcased some of the most bizarre outfits seen on the red carpet, including renowned American rapper Cardi B, who arrived looking like a giant intestine.
Just like every year, some of the biggest stars from the worlds of music, film, and fashion attended the event. While some outfits appeared relatively normal, many celebrities brought out looks that resembled nightmarish creatures, fitting the theme “Fashion is Art” at the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art.
A significant portion of social media users took to various platforms to criticize the event’s fashion statements, emphasizing concerns over current geopolitical issues like the US-Israeli conflict with Iran and Israel’s ongoing actions in Gaza and Lebanon.
One user commented, “I just don’t get it. They must be paid a fortune to wear these outfits. Disgusting.” Another added, “What even is this? I’m embarrassed just watching.” A third remarked, “There’s a genocide happening out there.”
Met Gala: Cardi B Looks Like a Large Intestine
Cardi B
Famous American rapper Cardi B went viral on social media for her Marc Jacobs ensemble, crafted from lace and satin. Many viewers compared her look to a giant intestine.
“She looks like Demi Moore in the final scene of ‘The Substance.'”
“This is gross. Why is she dressed as hemorrhoids?”
Jordan Roth
Creative director Jordan Roth also turned heads with his unusual costume. However, many found it unsettling or creepy.
“The theme was ‘Fashion is Art’… but this looks like a rejected prop from a horror movie.”
“I feel like this is what I imagine when my 7-year-old insists on a piggyback ride but is too heavy for me now.”
Maria Zardoya
Celebrating “Costume Art” at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, singer-songwriter Maria Zardoya arrived dressed by “Matières Fécales,” which literally translates to “Fecal Matter” in French. She wore a soft pink gown, holding a doll that resembled her.
“Is it Halloween already? Feels like I’ve seen this look in a Wednesday series.”
“I can’t stop laughing, I can’t take the name of this fashion house seriously—it means ‘fecal matter’ in French.”
Heidi Klum
German model Heidi Klum also embraced the theme of “Costume Art,” arriving dressed as a statue.
“Are we at Heidiween? The dedication is crazy—she took it literally! The face and especially the contact lenses definitely give Halloween costume vibes though.”
“It’s like Halloween forever for Heidi…”
