Recently, rumors have surfaced on social media suggesting that FromSoftware’s Dark Souls trilogy is in the process of being remade under the guidance of publisher Bandai Namco. However, it’s important to approach this information with caution, as the source of the leak remains unidentified.
This speculation has also sparked debate about why Bloodborne hasn’t received the same treatment, despite numerous fans requesting a port to next-generation consoles and PC to enhance performance—rather than playing the game on their PS3s at 30 FPS.
The initial leak originated from YouTuber and content creator Shirrako, who shared via X (formerly Twitter), “Dark Souls Trilogy Remake in development. A reputable source from my mirror reports.”
Bandai Namco has yet to respond to these claims.
Leak claims Dark Souls trilogy is being remade
Shirrako, recognized for his YouTube channel with over 2.5 million subscribers where he posts full gameplay videos without commentary, shared the news. The tweet generated mixed reactions across social media platforms. Many fans pointed out that the games still hold up well today, while others believed that only Dark Souls 1 and 2 need remakes to address gameplay issues and outdated graphics.
One user commented, “Honestly, the only games that need to be remade are DS1 and 2. They look kinda ugly now. DS3 still looks pretty good, though.”
Another added, “Anything but Bloodborne at this point. Sony really deserves a fate worse than Xbox.”
With Sony now pulling support from Bluepoint Games—famous for remaking Demon’s Souls and Shadow of the Colossus—speculation has intensified about who might take on the development of these rumored remakes.
Dark Souls 2 often receives the most criticism among the trilogy, with complaints about gameplay mechanics, level design, and the overwhelming number of enemies in each area. Despite this, it maintains a dedicated fanbase that claims they wouldn’t change a thing about it.
