Charlize Theron Stirs Controversy with Bold Comments at 49
Charlize Theron is making headlines again, this time for some provocative comments she made while discussing her experiences as a single woman on the popular podcast “Call Her Daddy.”
In her recent interview, Theron shared her candid views about love and intimacy, raising eyebrows among some critics. Megyn Kelly, host of “The Megyn Kelly Show,” did not hold back as she labeled Theron’s remarks as “vulgar” and “classless.” Kelly expressed her disbelief that Theron would choose to appear on a platform known for its frank discussion of such topics, especially while promoting her upcoming Netflix film, “The Old Guard 2.”
During the podcast, when asked for her best advice regarding sex, Theron surprised many with her openness. She explained that she has often felt liberated in her 40s, saying, “I am the last person to ask [for sex tips]. Just for perspective, I’ve probably had three one-night stands in my entire life. But I recently had an incredible encounter with a 26-year-old.” She emphasized that women should prioritize their own pleasure, stating, “We should be the ones to say, ‘I’m going to have an orgasm.’”
Kelly expressed her astonishment, particularly given that Theron portrayed her in the 2019 movie “Bombshell.” Kelly pointed out that her critique was well-founded and could not be deemed defamatory, given that she was merely voicing her opinion.
It seemed that Kelly felt Theron’s comments stemmed from a place of insecurity, suggesting that perhaps the actress was “compensating for something.” Kelly remarked that at 49, Theron appears to want to sound younger, questioning the need for her to act in a less sophisticated manner considering her status as a major star.
Kelly also took issue with the podcast’s explicit discussions, labeling them as “inappropriate.” She reflected on the oddity of seeing a prominent actress candidly discuss her sex life while downplaying the role of men in her life, especially when it comes to parenting.
Interestingly, Theron touched on the harsh stereotypes associated with older women and single mothers in her podcast conversation. She noted how society often assumes that a single woman must have issues, asserting that raising her child independently has fostered her sense of freedom.
In response to Theron’s use of explicit language, Kelly criticized her for trying to project an image of a carefree, independent woman, stating, “While everyone is entitled to their choices, I’d prefer not to see our leading actresses behaving this way.”
