KARACHI – Well-known Pakistani writer and satirist Anwar Maqsood has issued an apology regarding his comments about the military and has dismissed rumors of his alleged abduction.
Speaking at the Karachi Arts Council, Maqsood aimed to clear up confusion over his recent controversial remarks. He expressed regret for his satirical comments concerning the armed forces and navy, clarifying that he did not intend to offend anyone.
Maqsood strongly denied the rumors about his supposed abduction or any instructions from higher authorities, assuring everyone that he is safe and sound. He labeled such claims as unfounded.
Reflecting on his respect for all national institutions, including the navy and armed forces, he noted that his satire is meant to promote positive change rather than belittle.
He ended his speech with a call for love and unity, reaffirming his dedication to the country’s progress. The audience responded positively, appreciating his honesty and the clarification he provided. This response came in the wake of growing concerns on social media about his supposed abduction, which had sparked discussions among fans and fellow artists.
