Google Ads has introduced the “Campaign total budget” feature for Performance Max (PMax) campaigns. This capability was previously available for other types of campaigns and is now accessible for PMax as well.
The option to set campaign total budgets is now available for Demand Gen, Search, Standard Shopping, Performance Max, and YouTube campaigns, each with designated start and end dates.
A recent update shared by Thomas Eccel highlights this development, noting that Mohamed Hamed (Turki) originally discovered the feature. Eccel mentions that the campaign total budget setting, alongside the average daily budget update, was announced weeks ago and is now live for PMax campaigns in non-US accounts. He emphasizes that this feature eliminates the need to manually estimate daily spending by dividing the total budget across days, simplifying budget management.
Below is a screenshot illustrating the feature interface:

The campaign total budget feature is especially useful when aiming to spend a fixed amount over a predetermined time frame. It considers the actual spending so far and dynamically adjusts daily spending to ensure the total budget is used within the remaining period. Importantly, there are no daily spending caps, and users will never be billed more than the specified total budget.
To utilize this feature:
1. Open the Campaigns menu within the platform.
2. Click the plus (+) button to start creating a new campaign.
3. Complete the setup for bidding, campaign settings, and assets.
4. Under the “Budget” section, select “Campaign total budget.”
5. Enter your total campaign budget and set the corresponding start and end dates. The end date can be modified later if you need to extend your campaign.
This update streamlines budget planning and provides greater flexibility for campaign management.
