Google now displays the full name of the author along with the source when showing citations, such as the author’s name and platform (e.g., LinkedIn or Medium). Since these social platforms allow anyone to publish content, displaying the author’s name adds valuable context and credibility.
This change was observed by Gagan Ghorta, who shared an example on X, noting that Google’s AI summaries now include author names in the citations for LinkedIn and Medium. Ghorta highlighted that this approach emphasizes the personalities behind the content directly within the answer.
A screenshot shared by Gagan demonstrates this update: it shows Google’s AI overview presenting an answer with the author’s name and the source clearly identified.

This development was discussed in a forum on X, where users explored the implications of including author identities to improve transparency in search result snippets and AI summaries.
