Gemini 2.0 Flash Now Accessible to Free Users and Developers

Transitioning from its experimental phase, Gemini 2.0 Flash is described by Google’s official blog, The Keyword, as a “highly efficient workhorse model.” With impressive speed and performance, Gemini 2.0 Flash can now be utilized on several platforms: the Gemini app, Google AI Studio, and Vertex AI.

As of January 30, 2025, Google has integrated this model into the Gemini app, making it available to both free and paying users. Users can access it seamlessly through Gemini’s web, desktop, or mobile platforms, where it will automatically default to Gemini 2.0 Flash.

You still have the option to switch back to Gemini 1.5 Flash, Google’s previous iteration. While it may not be the most appealing choice, some users may have specific reasons for it.
