AI tools are rapidly evolving across various formats such as images, videos, and audio. Today, you can easily animate still images and generate videos in mere moments. Essentially, any static image can become an engaging video without losing the essence of its original character or scene. After experimenting with a range of image-to-video generation models, I identified three top methods for animating images using AI.
Animate Images and Create Videos with Veo 2
Google’s Veo 2 stands out as one of the leading AI models for video generation. You can access it for free through Google AI Studio, allowing you to upload images for animation. Keep in mind, though, that it doesn’t support images featuring human faces. You can either input a text prompt to create animated videos or simply upload non-human images. Here’s how to get started:
- Visit aistudio.google.com/generate-video and log in using your Google account.
- Ensure “Veo 2” is selected in the panel on the right and upload an image for animation.
- For instance, I uploaded a picture of the CMF Phone 2 Pro.
- Type in the prompt, “Animate this image” and click “Run.” You can also add more specific prompts if desired.

- Here is the animated video that was generated from the image using Veo 2.
- You can additionally input a text prompt to create stunning animated videos. Check out this cool animation clip I generated with Veo 2.
Animate Images and Create Videos with Runway
Similar to Google, Runway allows you to animate images using its state-of-the-art AI model, Gen-4 Turbo. Free users receive 125 credits and can upload images even if they have human faces. Here’s how to proceed:
- Navigate to Runway’s website and sign up for a free account.
- Next, upload an image and specify the prompt detailing how you’d like the image to be animated.

- And voila! Runway effectively animates images while maintaining character integrity.
Transform Your Images into Dynamic Videos with Monica
Monica is an all-encompassing AI app that provides access to various AI models for turning your images into dynamic videos and more. It features top-notch image-to-video generation models, including Veo 2, Runway Gen-3, Kling, Pika, and others. I utilized the Kling AI model for a free image animation.
- Firstly, visit Monica.im (click here) and create a free account.
- Next, upload an image and select an AI model. I chose Kling 1.6 for this image-to-video project.

- Kling delivered an impressive video, bringing the face and hand to life with remarkable character consistency.
These are three excellent methods for animating images using AI and creating dynamic videos. My experience with Google’s Veo 2 has shown it to be an amazing tool for transitioning from static images to animated videos. However, due to its limitations with human faces, using Runway or Monica.im could provide suitable alternatives, offering access to multiple advanced image-to-video generation models.
