Initially, Uber Eats customers in Leeds and Sheffield will be able to receive deliveries from Starship’s autonomous robots.
Uber announced a partnership with Starship Technologies to roll out robot deliveries across the UK starting in December, with plans to expand into other European countries next year and into the US by 2027.
This collaboration marks Uber’s ongoing efforts to incorporate autonomous vehicle technology into its services, aiming to streamline operations and fuel growth.
In the United States, Uber already collaborates with companies like Avride and Serve Robotics for robotic food delivery services.
Starship’s robots, based in San Francisco, will operate at Level 4 autonomy, meaning they will be capable of functioning independently within a designated zone without human oversight.
