Researchers from REMspace, a startup located in California, have achieved a remarkable breakthrough by allowing two people to communicate within their lucid dreams—an intriguing state in which individuals realize they are dreaming.

By utilizing advanced technology and a specialized language known as “Remmyo,” the participants successfully exchanged messages while they were asleep. This significant achievement, the result of years of research, paves the way for new avenues in dream communication, with potential applications across both commercial and scientific sectors.

On September 24, the experiment involved two volunteers who entered their lucid dreams in separate locations while their brain activity was closely monitored. The first participant heard a random word through earbuds, repeated it within the dream, and this message was recorded. Eight minutes later, the second volunteer also entered a lucid dream, received the initial message, and confirmed it after waking up.

This event marks the first-ever “chat” conducted within a lucid dream.

Michael Raduga, the CEO and founder of REMspace, highlighted the significance of this innovation, stating, “Just yesterday, the idea of communicating in dreams appeared to be science fiction. Soon, it will be such a commonplace occurrence that we won’t be able to envision our lives without this technology.”

Raduga anticipates a future where real-time communication during lucid dreams will emerge as a major industry, comparable in impact to artificial intelligence. He concluded, “We believe that REM sleep and lucid dreaming will transform how we perceive communication and human interaction.”
