Facebook To Launch TikTok Like App – Hires Vine Head Jason Toff

Right after one week, Facebook announced New Product Experimentation (NPE), A brand will be making experimental applications for the facebook users, who are still distant with the Facebook brand name.

Facebook also hired Jason Toff, Vine head. On 15th July, Toff announced that he is leaving Google and will be joining as a PM Director at Facebook. He also stated that he is started up a new project under the NPE team.

Jason Toff left Vine in 2016 to join Google, he worked as PM for various VR projects and later worked at Google’s in-house Area 120 incubator, which is very similar to Facebook’s NPE segment.

Toff didn’t mention the details about the project, but he mentioned that he is currently hiring UX designers and engineers team to work on the project. Taking all the apps on which Toff has worked on, he is a perfect fit for Facebook’s new NPE apps, which is similar to TikTok.

Facebook is more keen to put its money on videos. Since last November, Facebook was making an app called Lasso. Team Facebook has described the app similar to TikTok or Musically. This app is being built for teens and fun-focused creations.

Back in 2018, Facebook has also rolled out a lip-sync feature to Facebook Pages. Which is also a TikTok like feature. It also displayed on-screen lyrics, turning videography into a karaoke experience. Facebook has also rolled out Music Stickers just like Instagram.
