There are less than two days remaining until Apple’s highly anticipated ‘Awe dropping’ event, where four iPhone 17 models, AirPods Pro 3, a trio of Apple Watch variants, and more will be unveiled. Despite the urgency, fresh leaks continue to surface, offering intriguing insights—this time focusing on the battery capacities of the upcoming iPhones.
This information, shared by the trusted Apple leaker ShrimpApplePro, reveals the confirmed battery capacities for all four iPhone 17 versions. Notably, the three redesigned models—iPhone 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max—appear to be making good use of the extra internal space, which could lead to improved battery life. For users with eSIM-only iPhones, there’s an estimated 5% additional battery capacity compared to models with traditional SIM trays.
The standard iPhone 17 has only one listed battery capacity, suggesting it may not see significant battery improvements for eSIM-only users, possibly because its overall design remains similar to the iPhone 16. Overall, these reported enhancements represent substantial gains, particularly for the iPhone 17 Pro, which is expected to come with a battery capacity of 3,149mAh—significantly higher than previous estimates.
The shift to eSIM-only models continues to be a focus, with Apple finally utilizing the freed-up space inside the phone rather than just filling it with a rubber block, as was done in earlier models. This move not only maximizes internal space but also introduces the expansion of eSIM-only iPhones into more regions, implying Apple is serious about embracing this technology.
