Both the most budget-friendly and the premium iPhone 17 models are reportedly experiencing high demand. According to a recent market analysis, the standard iPhone 17 has gained particular popularity among consumers.
The data indicates that within the first ten days of its release, sales of the base iPhone 17 surpassed those of the iPhone 16 from the previous year by nearly 33%.
Counterpoint Research highlighted that the iPhone 17 is witnessing exceptionally strong interest in China, whereas the iPhone 17 Pro Max is particularly trending in the United States.
During the initial ten days on sale, the entire iPhone 17 series outperformed the iPhone 16 series in both China and the US by approximately 14%. The base model is performing notably well in China, where buyers are highly receptive to its competitive value. Meanwhile, in the US, demand for the iPhone 17 Pro Max is surging, aided by carriers increasing subsidies by 10%, or $100, as part of a shift targeting ultra-premium segments.
Year-over-year, demand for the base iPhone 17 has increased by around 31%, while the Pro Max model has seen a 12% rise.
Sales figures for the new iPhone Air remain unclear, as its launch in China faced delays. Nonetheless, reports indicate that the device sold out within minutes of availability in some Chinese cities, such as Beijing and Shanghai, with online delivery estimates showing availability into November for many configurations.
This rapid sell-out suggests that numerous users are upgrading to the iPhone Air for the first time since the pandemic began.
