Do you own an Ultramarine iPhone 16 but find yourself weary of its color? The typical solution might be to bide your time until the next upgrade—perhaps to an iPhone 17—with the hope of selecting a different hue. However, what if your phone’s color becomes monotonous every single day? This is precisely where Infinix’s cutting-edge E-Color Shift 2.0 technology enters the picture. Unveiled at MWC 2025, this revolutionary technology could empower you to continually customize the aesthetics of your future smartphone.
With E-Color Shift 2.0, you have the ability to tailor your device’s appearance through dynamic and interactive color transitions tailored to your preferences and various external factors. The system gives you options among six distinct patterns and six unique color palettes, culminating in a total of 30 diverse combinations.
Moreover, the AI-Recognize Mode enhances the E-Color Shift experience, utilizing AI capabilities to automatically modify the color of your phone’s back cover according to factors like weather, wallpapers, and your environment. This feature aims to offer a fluid and ever-changing visual experience.

As Liang Zhang, Deputy General Manager at Infinix Mobility, pointed out: “We are delving into new customization options through a dedicated software application, which can accommodate up to 60 customizable sections on the device, each capable of supporting a variety of colors. Users will also be able to personalize their phone’s back cover with displays for the time, mood, and other features arranged in a matrix format. This approach enables users to showcase their individuality and communicate distinctive information through unique phone designs, going beyond mere color changes and providing their device with a refreshed vibe.”
While it’s improbable that upcoming smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S26 or Apple iPhone 17 will integrate E-Color Shift technology, there is potential for this innovation to appear in upcoming models in the years to come. A pressing question, however, lies in battery consumption: how much power will this feature require? If the energy demands are manageable, E-Color Shift 2.0 could indeed transform the smartphone landscape.
Until then, when selecting your next phone, consider your choice carefully. The color you pick will likely be one you’ll have to live with for over a year, depending on your upgrade habits.
