Xiaomi has unveiled the Mijia Hidden Smart Curtain in China, offering a compact and efficient solution for managing your curtains compared to other available options. While it’s uncertain whether this innovative smart home device will reach Western markets, it aims to address several issues that current smart curtains present.
The Mijia Hidden Smart Curtain can be operated through a remote control, the Mijia app, or via voice commands. Users can set schedules for when the curtains should open and close, but the most user-friendly feature may be its ability to respond to a gentle tug. This tug sends a signal to the motor, allowing users to control the curtains easily, which is a great feature for those who may struggle with technology.
Each unit can accommodate up to 110 pounds of fabric and operates at a noise level of approximately 30 decibels. However, it does not support L- or U-shaped tracks, which makes certain curtain styles, particularly those with eyelets, incompatible without adjustments.
One of the standout features of this device is its compact design. Xiaomi has specified the dimensions at 2.1 x 3 x 4.1 inches—small enough to hold in your hand—making it a more convenient choice than many bulkier alternatives on the market.
Currently, the Mijia Hidden Smart Curtain is priced at CNY 599, roughly translating to about $82. While its pricing in domestic markets remains uncertain, it could compete with other smart curtain offerings, such as the SwitchBot Curtain 3 and the Ryse SmartCurtain, which are priced at $70 and $150 respectively.
