The White House has stated that President Donald Trump is in good health, even as questions persist regarding how his age might influence his effectiveness as the nation’s leader.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced on Monday that a recent MRI performed on President Trump was a preventive measure and showed that he is in good cardiovascular condition.
During a press briefing at the White House, Leavitt explained that men of Trump’s age often undergo such screenings.
“President Trump’s cardiovascular imaging results were completely normal,” she said. “There is no evidence of artery narrowing, blood flow impairment, or issues in the heart or major blood vessels.”
She added, “The size of the heart chambers is normal, the vessel walls are smooth and healthy, and there are no signs of inflammation or clotting. Overall, his cardiovascular system is in excellent shape. His abdominal scans are also normal.”
President Trump recently underwent an MRI as part of a medical exam but did not specify the reason for the scan, which is unusual outside of routine check-ups. The lack of details has led to speculation about whether the White House is releasing all relevant health information in a timely manner.
Trump is notably sensitive about his age and health. Last week, he personally attacked a female New York Times journalist on social media over an article discussing how his age could be impacting his energy levels.
