The United States has informed other nations that recognizing a Palestinian state could lead to increased challenges and potentially intensify conflicts. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio made these remarks on Thursday during his visit to Ecuador. Speaking from Quito, where he met with President Daniel Noboa and the Ecuadorean Foreign Minister, Rubio stated, “We’ve advised all these countries—if you go ahead and recognize a Palestinian state, it’s not genuine, it’s superficial, and it will cause problems.”
He warned that such recognition might provoke reactions that could hinder the pursuit of a ceasefire and might even trigger certain actions seen previously. Rubio refrained from commenting on Israel’s plans to annex parts of the West Bank, emphasizing that the plans are not yet finalized.
