Starting January 2, 2026, the United Arab Emirates will implement a standardized schedule for Friday sermons and prayers nationwide, according to the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, and Zakat (Awqaf). All mosques across the country will now hold Friday prayers and sermons at 12:45 p.m. local time.
Previously, Dubai and Abu Dhabi typically scheduled Friday prayers around 1:30 p.m., while Sharjah and some northern emirates held prayers closer to 12:30 p.m. This new regulation unifies prayer times across all emirates, promoting consistency.
Worshippers are encouraged to arrive early to ensure they don’t miss the sermon and to maximize the spiritual benefits. The authorities emphasize punctuality to facilitate better event organization and crowd control, supporting smoother community interactions and shared religious experiences.
