Nine Arab nationals have been brought to court in the UAE on charges related to kidnapping and blackmail over a financial disagreement. Authorities revealed that the suspects held a victim captive for a week, physically assaulted him, and recorded footage showing him restrained and in a compromising position. This footage was later shared on social media as part of an extortion attempt targeting his family for money.
The Federal Public Prosecution Service in the UAE quickly apprehended the suspects. Investigators recovered mobile phones and vehicles linked to the crime, uncovering evidence indicating a tightly coordinated criminal operation.
Officials noted that the criminal gang functioned with a high level of coordination and posed a significant threat to public safety and law enforcement stability. The accused face serious consequences, including the possibility of life imprisonment or the death penalty.
UAE Attorney General Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi emphasized that safeguarding national security and maintaining stability remain top priorities. He also assured that the Public Prosecution will persist in taking strong, fair action against anyone involved in crimes that jeopardize public order or national security.
