ABU DHABI: The United Arab Emirates has unveiled comprehensive updates to its visa policies, introducing new categories designed to attract talent and assist those in need.
A dedicated visa for artificial intelligence (AI) experts has been established, along with a new event visa for individuals attending festivals, exhibitions, conferences, and sporting events.
tourists arriving by cruise ships or leisure boats are now eligible for a multiple-entry maritime visa.
In a notable humanitarian gesture, the UAE will issue one-year residence permits to individuals escaping wars or natural calamities, without requiring a sponsor. Widows and divorced women will also be able to secure residency independently.
For visit visas, sponsors must meet minimum income requirements: AED 4,000 for immediate family members, AED 8,000 for extended relatives, and AED 15,000 to sponsor friends.
Business visa applicants must demonstrate financial stability or ownership of an overseas company, while foreign truck drivers will only be eligible for visas through sponsorship by licensed freight or transportation companies.
Officials emphasized that these reforms are part of the UAE’s broader strategy to attract global talent, bolster technological industries, and establish itself as a hub for commerce, tourism, and innovation.
