The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is now offering a 10-year Golden Visa to individuals who donate at least AED 2 million to Islamic Waqf endowments, establishing a new route for charitable giving and long-term residency. This initiative is a collaborative effort between GDRFA Dubai and Dubai Islamic Awqaf, allowing both residents and international donors to apply under the “Financial Supporters of Humanitarian Work” category.
Applicants must contribute a minimum of AED 2 million (roughly Rs 156 million) to a verified Waqf or charitable project and hold at least a university degree. The donation should come from Awqaf Dubai or an authorized humanitarian organization, with proof of donation, identification, and educational credentials required for application.
Applications can be submitted through the GDRFA Smart Services platform or at Amer Centres located throughout Dubai. A joint review committee from GDRFA and Awqaf evaluates all submissions. Once approved, the visa remains valid even if the holder spends more than six months outside the UAE.
In Islamic tradition, a Waqf is a permanent charitable endowment, which may include land, buildings, cash, or other assets dedicated to serving public interests such as education, healthcare, or religious services. Once donated, these assets cannot be sold or inherited. Awqaf Dubai ensures all endowments are compliant with Sharia law, transparent, and focused on sustainable community development.
Officials highlight that this Golden Visa program not only rewards philanthropists but also serves as a strategic effort to attract global supporters of humanitarian efforts. It reinforces Dubai’s image as a hub of generosity and social impact.
