The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has declared it will not facilitate logistical support for assaults on Iran. In an official statement on Monday, the foreign ministry emphasized that the UAE will not permit its airspace, land, or waters to be used for any hostile military operations targeting Iran.
The statement also highlighted the country’s stance on respecting national sovereignty and promoting dialogue, de-escalation, and adherence to international law as the appropriate responses to ongoing crises. The UAE hosts thousands of U.S. military personnel at Al Dhafra Air Base near Abu Dhabi, which is among several American military installations in the Gulf region.
Additionally, the UAE reiterated that it will not assist in any attacks, signaling a clear stance against involvement in military hostilities. Iran has warned that any attack on it will be regarded as an act of full-scale war, as the U.S. has recently deployed a carrier strike group and other military assets to the Middle East amidst rising tensions.
In recent months, U.S. naval forces, including the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier, along with destroyers and fighter jets, have moved from the Asia-Pacific region toward the Middle East — a build-up that Iran’s officials suggest is provocative. A senior Iranian official, who requested anonymity, indicated that the military in Iran is on high alert, prepared to respond severely to any form of aggression, whether limited or comprehensive. He warned that Iran considers any attack as an act of war and will retaliate with maximum force to defend itself.
While previous U.S. military movements to the Middle East have often been defensive or in response to specific threats, last year’s military buildup was notably larger, preceding targeted strikes against Iran’s nuclear facilities in June.
