A helicopter carrying President Donald Trump was directed to land at Luton Airport Thursday evening after experiencing what officials described as a minor hydraulic problem following his official visit to the UK.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that the aircraft touched down at a nearby airfield as a precaution before making its way to Stansted Airport, arriving approximately 20 minutes later than scheduled. She confirmed that both the president and first lady Melania Trump boarded the support helicopter safely.

Emergency personnel were visible on the tarmac at Luton following the precautionary landing. Photographs captured Marine One and Marine Two—the presidential helicopters—parked near the runway. These helicopters, nicknamed “White Tops” due to their white paint, are equipped with missile defense systems, radar jammers, and electronics resistant to nuclear blasts.

For security reasons, Marine One often flies with identical decoys and is typically accompanied by MV-22 Ospreys, known as “Green Tops,” which carry Secret Service agents, support staff, and special forces personnel.

President Trump relied heavily on this helicopter fleet throughout his second state visit to the UK, arriving at Stansted late Tuesday before heading to Winfield House, the U.S. ambassador’s residence in London.

On Wednesday, he and the first lady visited Windsor Castle for a meeting with the King and Queen. The next day, Trump traveled to Chequers for bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

During a joint press conference, the leaders addressed a broad spectrum of topics, including Ukraine, Gaza, and illegal migration. Trump suggested that Britain might consider deploying military forces to handle migration issues, highlighting differences with Starmer on this matter.

He also opposed the UK’s plan to recognize Palestinian statehood ahead of the upcoming United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York.
