On Tuesday, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his belief that Ukraine, with backing from the European Union and NATO, can reclaim all territories lost to Russia since the invasion began.
After meeting Ukraine’s leader at the United Nations earlier that day, Trump reiterated his stance that both Kyiv and Moscow would need to surrender land to bring the conflict to an end.
“With patience, time, and financial support from Europe and especially NATO, restoring the original borders from where this war started remains very much an achievable goal,” Trump stated on his Truth Social platform.
He also criticized Russia’s handling of the conflict, claiming it has been fighting “aimlessly” and that a “real military power” would have secured victory in less than a week.
“Putin and Russia are facing serious economic difficulties, and now is the time for Ukraine to take action,” Trump added.
He emphasized that the U.S. will continue providing weapons to NATO, allowing the alliance to decide what to do with them.
