The United States is seeking to reclaim Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan, President Donald Trump announced Thursday during a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
This historic Soviet-built airfield served as the primary base for American forces in Afghanistan following the September 11, 2001, attacks, until the U.S. withdrew in 2021, resulting in the Taliban taking control.
“We’re working to regain it,” Trump stated, referring to Bagram, highlighting its strategic significance near China. “We want that base back.”
