Earlier trailers for Superman have showcased David Corenswet as the iconic Man of Steel. While the film is simply titled Superman and not Superman vs. Lex Luthor, the villainous Lex Luthor, portrayed by Nicholas Hoult, takes center stage in the latest trailer released by Warner Bros., which also includes details on ticket sales.
As he breaches the Fortress of Solitude, Luthor ominously declares, “Now, as planned, I will destroy you.” The threats escalate as he vows to eliminate Lois Lane, played by Rachel Brosnahan, along with Superman’s adoptive parents, Jonathan (Pruitt Taylor Vince) and Martha Kent (Neve Howell). He even sets his sights on the citizens of Metropolis who look up to Superman as their hero. Fortunately, Superman is preparing for a showdown.
“No matter what you do to me, Luthor, your schemes will fail,” Superman retorts before diving into an aerial battle over the city.

Superman faces a grueling challenge as he battles against Luthor’s forces and other potential threats, including Nathan Fillion’s portrayal of Guy Gardner. The footage culminates with Superman unleashing his heat vision to combat adversaries closing in from all directions.
The film’s cast is impressive, featuring Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt/Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Rex Mason/Metamorpho, Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica/The Engineer, and Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl.
James Gunn directs and pens the script for Superman, marking the inception of a new era for DC’s cinematic universe. The film holds significant importance for Warner Bros., as its success could bolster the ambitious vision for a cohesive DC storyline or threaten to disrupt the studio’s progress. While not a matter of life and death, Superman must resonate effectively with audiences both financially and critically for Gunn and Peter Safran to elevate DC to new heights.
