Spotify and Netflix have teamed up to bring a selection of Spotify-produced video podcasts to the Netflix platform, the companies announced. The partnership will feature 16 video podcast episodes created by Spotify Studios and The Ringer, which Spotify acquired in 2020. These videos are set to launch on Netflix in early 2026 in the United States, with plans to expand to other regions later.
Roman Wasenmuller, Spotify’s Vice President and Head of Podcasts, described the collaboration as a “new chapter for podcasting.” Spotify also indicated plans to offer similar opportunities to even more podcasters in the future.
Analyst Christoffer Jennel from Inderes explained that this move aligns with Spotify’s broader strategy to enhance its video podcast offerings, which has become an increasingly central focus. Since launching non-music audio and video content in 2015, Spotify has ramped up investments in podcasts, notably acquiring Gimlet Media in 2019.
While podcasting traditionally started as an audio-focused medium, it has evolved into a multi-format landscape, with various types of content now available. Jennel views this agreement as another step towards Spotify positioning itself as a comprehensive media platform beyond just audio.
