Smart home gadgets, particularly smart locks, have revolutionized convenience. Imagine approaching your door, laden with groceries, and having it unlock for you—no more awkward fumbling for keys. However, these gadgets can occasionally be a bit too responsive, like when you’re just standing by the door looking out. The Schlage Sense Pro, which debuted at CES 2025, takes this convenience to an impressive new level.
While it can’t literally read your thoughts, the technology behind the Sense Pro is quite advanced. It recognizes your approach and behaves accordingly. If you approach the door with a sense of purpose, it unlocks; if you meander, it stays locked. The lock is able to assess your direction, speed, and movement to decide when to engage. Just remember, you must have your mobile device on you for this feature to work.
For instance, should you find yourself on your porch tending to your plants, the lock will remain securely locked. You can stroll right past without triggering it. However, if you inadvertently disturb a hornet’s nest while gardening and make a hasty retreat, the lock will prepare itself for your entrance.

This smart lock connects directly to Wi-Fi, eliminating the need for a separate hub. It can accommodate up to 250 distinct access codes and supports Matter-over-Thread, enhancing compatibility with other smart devices in your home. Pair this innovative lock with the upgraded Schlage Home app, and you have a formidable combination of smart technology. The app allows easy management of settings, including the auto-lock timer and usage history.
With the app, you can oversee all of your connected Schlage locks and control them effortlessly. On top of that, Schlage has introduced the Arrive Smart Wi-Fi Deadbolt, featuring a keypad with raised keys. This textured keypad offers ease of use when wearing gloves and is a significant improvement for those with visual impairments or other disabilities.
The refreshed Schlage Home app is set to launch in early 2025. Both the Schlage Arrive and Schlage Sense Pro will be available for purchase later this year, with exact release dates and pricing yet to be announced. Additionally, the installation is designed to be straightforward, allowing most people to complete it with ease.
