Starting today, select Samsung Smart TVs and monitors will have access to a new app called GameBreaks at no additional cost. This innovative gaming platform will initially launch with a fresh puzzle game titled Ripplash, and it is designed to feature an expanding selection of original titles over time.
GameBreaks represents an evolution in Samsung’s ongoing gaming initiatives. In 2022, the company introduced the Samsung Gaming Hub app on certain TVs, integrating cloud gaming services such as GeForce Now. Over the past few years, Samsung has further developed this strategy by adding Xbox Game Pass, creating its own game controller, and releasing original games like The Six and Rivals Arena.
This new app signifies a deeper commitment to gaming for Samsung. According to Kevin Beatty, Samsung’s Global Head of Product for Gaming and Emerging Technologies, the aim is to provide simple, enjoyable gaming experiences for Samsung TV users. He stated, “We believe now is the ideal time to expand our offerings and create accessible gameplay for everyone.”
Beatty also emphasizes the social aspect of these games. “It’s about bringing people back to the TV for shared experiences,” he notes. While Samsung GameBreaks can be enjoyed solo, it focuses on encouraging group play, as shared moments can be incredibly meaningful. Samsung aims to make gaming a core part of living room entertainment, enabling users to create lasting memories with family and friends.
The initial release of the app includes Ripplash alongside existing quiz game The Six. In Ripplash, players are challenged to identify a torn image and unscramble letters. The app is designed to deliver three new puzzles each day and can be played using either a Samsung TV remote or a smartphone.

More gaming titles are on the horizon, though specific launch dates are yet to be confirmed. Upcoming games include Pop Off, which turns Mad Libs into a trivia challenge; Finish Line, where players complete famous phrases; and Eye-Q, a memory game that tests players’ recall of a short video. These new titles are primarily developed by Samsung’s internal team, according to Beatty.
“At Samsung, we embrace a collaborative approach to game development,” he explains. “Our talented team draws from a wealth of gaming industry experience, and we also partner with exceptional external studios to bring new ideas and innovations to our game lineup.”
Samsung plans to continue supporting the Gaming Hub as it develops GameBreaks. Beatty describes Samsung’s approach as “experimental,” highlighting recent collaborations, including one with Activision for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, as proof of the company’s commitment to expanding into popular gaming franchises.
“As Samsung Gaming Hub evolves, so will GameBreaks, offering unique experiences for players,” Beatty asserts. In addition to introducing new games, the company is exploring how partners can integrate within these experiences. He highlights that they’ve worked with Xbox for themed questions in The Six, linking fun trivia to significant cultural events—a trend that they intend to explore further in the future.
The GameBreaks app is accessible starting today on Samsung Smart TVs and monitors released between 2022 and 2025.
