At least four individuals lost their lives and two others were injured when a helicopter carrying staff from a Russian military factory crashed in the southern Dagestan region of Russia.

The incident, captured on video, showed a Ka-226 light utility helicopter attempting to land on a beach when its tail hit the ground, breaking off the tail rotor.

The pilot tried to climb higher; however, control was lost, and the helicopter spun out of control before crashing into a residential building near Achi-Su village, killing all four onboard.

Local reports identified Achalo Magomedov, deputy general director for construction and transport support at Kizlyar Electromechanical Plant, among the deceased.

Videos from the scene showed firefighting efforts as flames consumed the building, reducing it to rubble.

Another clip displayed the moment of impact, with the helicopter tearing through the roof before igniting in flames.

The helicopter was reportedly transporting employees of Kizlyar Electromechanical Plant, a company sanctioned by the European Union for manufacturing aircraft components used by the Russian military.

The EU described the company as “responsible for materially supporting actions that undermine or threaten Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence.”

The deadly crash coincided with Russia’s increased aerial strikes on Ukraine, including a barrage of drones and missiles launched overnight, killing at least three people and damaging key energy infrastructure across three regions.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia fired more than 450 drones and 45 missiles during this latest attack wave.
