Nvidia might be on the verge of overcoming its delay challenges and could have the RTX 5090 GPUs ready for consumers within the next month by implementing a strategic solution.
According to industry leakers on X, the current shortage was largely caused by scalpers buying up components. However, this situation may soon improve if Nvidia adopts a new approach.
Imagine you are Nvidia and have purchased vast amounts of TSMC yields for B200, but now the market isn’t demanding that much B200, and RTX40 is no longer in circulation… The only option is to produce as many RTX50 as possible to utilize the surplus yield of B200 https://t.co/GFXAAdCzOl

According to leaker @Zed__Wang, Nvidia may be able to address its RTX 5090 shortage by recycling excess B200 data center GPUs in the production of its next-generation graphics cards. The demand for the B200 chips has significantly diminished, leading to an oversupply situation.
If these claims are true, Nvidia can utilize the surplus GB100 die chips within the B200 GPUs and integrate them into the new GB202 architecture for the RTX 5090, which might effectively alleviate the shortage.
The RTX 5090 isn’t the only Nvidia graphics card experiencing delays. The RTX 5080 also launched with extremely limited availability in January. Factors such as heightened demand and scalper activity have severely restricted the supply of these components. There remains uncertainty regarding any potential restock of the RTX 5080.
Furthermore, the entire RTX 50 series, which includes GPUs for laptops and desktops, has faced shipment delays, with availability pushed back to at least March. Various unverified reports suggested Nvidia’s focus on AI GPUs and internal communication issues as possible reasons for these setbacks. Additionally, Notebookcheck highlighted that certain graphics cards might be encountering performance and functional problems. Nonetheless, Nvidia plans to open pre-orders for the GPU starting February 25, even though the actual release date will be later.
The RTX 60 and RTX 70 series GPUs are also experiencing delays, now expected in April. On a brighter note, the RTX 5070 Ti is set to launch promptly on February 20.
