PTCL has announced the successful completion of repairs on a repeater within an undersea cable. The maintenance, carried out under the guidance of the International Cable Consortium, started on October 14.
Following the repair, internet speeds and connectivity across Pakistan have been fully restored. PTCL has assured customers that the network is now operating at peak efficiency, ensuring better online access nationwide.
The company had previously warned that maintenance work on one of its submarine cables could cause some degradation or partial disruptions in internet service.
In a statement issued Monday, PTCL clarified that the repair was scheduled by an international cable consortium to fix a faulty repeater embedded in the submarine cable system.
Pakistan has experienced recurring internet outages, often due to faults in submarine cables. The government has committed to improving connectivity over the coming months and has announced plans to launch 5G services initially in several major cities.
