Zunaira Tariq, a Pakistani-American lawyer and operations leader for TikTok’s Mobility division, has been named Operations Leader at TikTok’s U.S. headquarters. In this key position, she manages talent mobility and immigration strategies across major markets, playing a crucial role in TikTok’s growth in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Brazil by overseeing complex relocation initiatives to support rapid expansion.
Her extensive career includes experience in international law, public policy in Pakistan, and leadership positions within leading tech companies. She holds a Bachelor’s of Law degree from the University of London and a Master of Laws from the University of Washington School of Law. Earlier, she was a Mobility and Immigration Consultant at Microsoft’s Seattle headquarters, where she managed global talent mobility for the corporation.
Additionally, she has served as legal counsel for Pakistan’s Interior Ministry on significant projects, including the Benazir Income Support Programme. Tariq is also the granddaughter of former Punjab governor Chaudhry Altaf and made history as the first woman to serve as an adviser to the Director-General of the Frontier Works Organization (FWO), where she led an international expansion project to the UAE.
In conversations with Geo News, Zunaira credited her success to a mix of relentless effort and mentorship. She explained that her role involves strategic planning for international growth, acting as a strategic partner on global projects, and ensuring compliance with laws and tax regulations across different countries.
