The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 might introduce an innovative charging solution that eliminates the need for a traditional charger.
This groundbreaking technology would enable the ring to be charged directly from a Samsung smartphone, meaning it wouldn’t require a separate docking station. You could conveniently recharge it using your phone, no matter where you are.
This concept, while exciting, remains at a conceptual stage, mainly drawn from a recent patent filing.
However, these patents represent the early stages of potential advancements, and Samsung has officially filed this innovative design, which can be viewed on WIPO.

The patent illustration indicates that the ring could dock onto the back of the phone.
It seems there is a connector point inside the ring that allows charging from the smartphone when it is attached.
Additionally, it appears that once the ring is connected, it will not only charge, but also sync with the phone to automatically transfer tracking data.
There is a suggestion of an outer ring on the phone where the Galaxy Ring would dock, though the design does not show if this component will protrude from the phone’s surface. It’s likely Samsung aims for a smooth aesthetic that adheres to its current design standards.
While this concept is still in the patent phase, it’s noteworthy that Samsung has previously harnessed its phones to charge external accessories, such as the S Pen. The company has also been at the forefront of wireless charging technology, facilitating phone-to-device charging for items like earbuds.
Initially, the Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 was anticipated to be unveiled at the Unpacked 2025 event in January, but the announcement did not occur. This delay could mean that more impressive features, such as the phone-based charging, are in store.
