Tony Hawk Pro Skater enthusiasts have been hoping for a remastered version of the third and fourth installments since the successful release of the first two games. However, these aspirations took a hit in 2022 when news broke that the project had been canceled. Now, a countdown timer has surfaced on the official website, set to conclude on March 4.
This countdown may culminate in an unveiling of the next entry in the series, but many fans speculate it could signal the arrival of the long-anticipated remaster. The phrase “thps-3-4-countdown” was allegedly discovered in the site’s backend code, although it has since been removed, as noted by VGC. Furthermore, the website credits Iron Galaxy as one of the developers, the same studio behind the successful remaster of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2. This adds weight to the theory that the announcement will pertain to a remaster rather than a new sequel.
Backing up this notion is the latest map from Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which features a skate park filled with Tony Hawk branding and hints referencing the March 4 date. Activision has been openly teasing fans, and several leaks have pointed to a new game being in the works. Professional skater Tyshawn Jones has mentioned that he will appear in a soon-to-be-released remaster.

The original Tony Hawk series saw tremendous success, selling approximately 1.4 billion copies across all titles. It introduced countless players to the sport of skateboarding and nurtured a passionate fanbase over the years. The franchise’s popularity soared anew with the remastering of the first two installments in 2020.
While it’s uncertain what the upcoming announcement will entail, all indications lean towards a remaster of the third and fourth games. Get ready with your grip tape and clean your skateboard; you might need to jump into action as soon as Activision shares the news.
