Minecraft is gearing up to introduce an exciting update that reintroduces some long-awaited features, notably the ability to craft saddles. Importantly, players will also be able to remove saddles from their pig companions without having to resort to turning them into bacon. This update, part of the second major update, is expected later this year. You can test these features now in the Java snapshot or Bedrock beta version.
Gone are the days of fruitlessly fishing or scouring dungeons for a single saddle. Now, with just three pieces of leather and one iron ingot, you can craft your very own saddle and ride off into the sunset. While players have been able to create leather horse armor for quite some time, crafting saddles has been a much-anticipated addition, especially since it has been missing for nearly 16 years. This new crafting option makes gameplay smoother and more enjoyable, as finding a saddle traditionally felt more like a chore.
Additionally, this update introduces another noteworthy feature: you can now shear a pig wearing a saddle to remove it. This means you no longer have to sacrifice adorable pigs just because luck wasn’t on your side with loot drops. You can put the saddle back on without harming the pig in any way.
