The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is gearing up for a tough challenge next month with the unveiling of the Honor Magic V5, touted to be the thinnest foldable smartphone in the world.
The competition in the foldable phone arena is heating up. Following the releases of the Motorola Razr 2025, Razr Ultra, and the sleek Oppo Find N5, anticipation is building as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 are set to launch soon.
Before that, however, the Honor Magic V5 will take the spotlight on July 2. Honor has confirmed that the V5 will dethrone the Oppo Find N5, establishing itself as the slimmest foldable device available. Recent images shared on Weibo allow us to admire its elegant profile.

However, there is a noticeable feature in the photos—the camera bump. It’s unlikely that Honor will factor this prominent bulge into the measurements when it makes its claims at the launch on July 2. Anticipate them to highlight the thinnest section of the device.
This marketing tactic is not uncommon; smartphone brands often showcase the slimmest dimensions of their devices, which can lead to some ambiguity. Consequently, while the Magic V5 may appear elegantly slender, its actual thickness could be thicker in areas, particularly around the camera.
Ready for Action
Honor isn’t the sole player generating buzz around new foldables. Samsung has also been teasing the Galaxy Z Fold 7 heavily in recent weeks.
Samsung claims the upcoming device will be its “thinnest, lightest, and most cutting-edge foldable to date,” with speculation around a significant design revamp.
The current Galaxy Z Fold 6 ranks heavier compared to competitors like Honor, Oppo, and Google, measuring 12.1mm when closed. To claim the title of thinnest foldable, the Honor Magic V5 must undercut the Find N5’s 8.9mm thickness.
Reports from sources like SamMobile and Android Headlines suggest that the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s thickness might be reduced to around 9mm, marking a promising advancement. While the Magic V5 might take the crown for slenderness, its availability in the U.S. remains uncertain—providing Samsung with a distinct edge in attracting foldable phone enthusiasts.
