Netflix Losses $9 Billion Because of Cuties Controversy in One Day

Cuties Controversy: Franco-Senegalese Maimouna Doucoure had written and directed a French comedy which in its directorial debut reveals little Amy’s life. She is an 11-year-old Senelagese who registers herself in “Cuties”, a dance School (mignonnes; in original language) where due to her feminine side she falls into a conflict with her family following traditional Muslim values.

One more detail of this film has caused more controversies, which is the poster itself. The minors were wearing revealing outfits that were exposing their body and also formed adult poses in the camera.

A sexual dance is also directed which also caught a lot of criticism on Instagram and on Twitter. One comment on social media was that they are encouraging pedophilia.

People also stated that without any kind of safety these directions were followed in front of the male staff.

Netflix then responded and stated that Cuties is a social tale that is totally against child sexuality. It is a powerful tale and an award-winning movie that considers the pressure that young girls go through on social media from their society. They further encourage users to watch this film.

A petition #CancelNetflix Trending On Twitter? has also been started which gained 660 thousand signatures up till now. Critics replied that the goal was only to denounce an environment that can be highly sexualized, which means dancing, especially in this time where young girls would go to any extent to integrate.

Due to which, the price of Netflix dropped by $9 billion today. Besides, IMDB has ranked this movie in the nude/sex category.

This movie is now categorized as R so that it is to be watched by an audience under 17 with their guardians. However, minors opted as protagonists. Therefore, the scenes present in the movie cannot be viewed by kids yet were directed by using the young girls.
