Several individuals were injured, with one person fatally shot during a gunfire incident on Wednesday at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Dallas. The gunman died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to federal authorities.
Law enforcement responded around 7:30 a.m. local time after reports of shots fired at the northwest Dallas office, as reported by local media outlets. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem tweeted that there were multiple injuries and fatalities, and that the attacker had died.
Vice President JD Vance responded on X, expressing concern over ongoing violence against law enforcement agencies like ICE. “The relentless assault on law enforcement, especially ICE, must end. My prayers are with everyone affected and their families,” he posted.
The Dallas ICE field office is a processing center where agents determine whether individuals are released or detained. Sources told Fox News that the victims were being brought into the building for processing and possible repatriation.
Two victims were transported to hospitals with gunshot injuries, while one was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect was also found dead, according to Dallas Police on X. Footage from local news stations showed a heavy law enforcement presence around the building.
Authorities reported the shooter was located dead atop a nearby structure. ICE Acting Director Todd Lyons indicated preliminary reports suggest a potential sniper involved. Some media reports noted that at least some of the wounded remained in critical condition.
Dallas police confirmed to Reuters that the situation remains active and that details are limited at this stage.
