If you’re invested in Michael B. Jordan, now’s the time to increase your stake. Amazon MGM Studios has officially announced the release date for his upcoming directorial project.
According to Deadline, Jordan’s fresh take on The Thomas Crown Affair is scheduled to hit theaters and IMAX on March 5, 2027. Alongside Jordan, Taylor Russell will star in this heist film, which serves as a reinterpretation of the original 1968 classic directed by Norman Jewison. The screenplay has been crafted by Drew Pearce, following earlier drafts by Wes Took and Justin Britt-Gibson. The production team includes Jordan, Patrick McCormick, Marc Toberoff, and Elizabeth Raposo, while Alan Trustman, who penned the original film, will act as executive producer.
This marks the third iteration of The Thomas Crown Affair. The original film featured Steve McQueen as the clever millionaire Thomas Crown and Faye Dunaway as Vicki Anderson, an investigator. After Crown successfully orchestrates a bank heist, Anderson is called in to solve the case, leading to a suspenseful game of cat and mouse that develops into a romantic plot.
The 1999 remake by John McTiernan starred Pierce Brosnan as Thomas Crown, with Rene Russo as the investigator. This version saw Crown stealing a priceless painting from the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Currently, Jordan’s star power is soaring due to his role in Sinners. In this thriller directed by Ryan Coogler, he portrays Smoke and Stack, twin brothers who return to their Mississippi Delta roots to establish a juke joint for the Black community. However, their opening night takes a dark turn when a sinister force is revealed, prompting the brothers and their allies to fight for survival until dawn.
Sinners raked in $48 million during its domestic opening weekend, a promising figure for an original film with a budget approaching $100 million. It has also received widespread acclaim, including a five-star review from Digital Trends.
The upcoming The Thomas Crown Affair will be Jordan’s second project as a director. At just 38, he previously directed and starred in Creed III, the third installment in the series featuring him as Adonis Creed.
