Meta has announced the launch of Instagram Map in Pakistan, offering users a new, interactive way to discover content and stay connected with friends while keeping strong privacy settings.
The feature was introduced on October 4 and is accessible right at the top of users’ direct message inboxes.
With this addition, Pakistani users can share their location and browse stories, reels, posts, and notes tagged with specific locations. This makes it easier to see what friends and favorite creators are sharing from places like concerts, cafes, or neighborhood spots. Users also have the option to share their last active location with select friends, close friends, or keep it private.
Privacy remains a priority. Location sharing defaults to off, giving users complete control over who can see their location. An indicator at the top of the map clearly shows if location sharing is turned on, and reminders will pop up when adding location tags.
Parents overseeing teens’ activity on Instagram can also view and manage their child’s sharing preferences for added supervision.
Meta has refined the Instagram Map with updates such as removing profile photos from map content, clarifying when location sharing is off, and previewing how tagged content appears.
Earlier, Instagram rolled out new features aimed at enhancing sharing and interaction—like a long-awaited repost function, a live location map, and an updated Reels interface. Announced on August 6 by Meta, these updates include a profile tab for reposted items, optional location sharing via an interactive map, and a “Friends” tab within Reels that displays content friends engage with.
