Following in the legacy of Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls, the first major title to make a splash was Lords of the Fallen, developed by Deck13 and CI Games, which launched in 2014. While it garnered mostly favorable reactions upon release, fans had to wait nearly a decade for a significant continuation. Initially dubbed Lords of the Fallen 2, the reboot simply titled Lords of the Fallen arrived in 2023. This might have led to some confusion, but anticipation is now building for Lords of the Fallen 2 (or its eventual name), which will effectively serve as the third installment in the franchise. Thankfully, we won’t be waiting another ten years this time, so let’s prepare ourselves and delve into what we know about this exciting new entry into the soulslike genre.

In June 2024, CI Games revealed that the target release window for Lords of the Fallen 2 is set for 2026. They also indicated that the project doesn’t have a finalized title yet, so it may bear a different name upon release. A few months later, it was announced that development was in full swing, suggesting a brisk production timeline compared to similar game projects. Further information and possibly some gameplay footage are expected to be shared in 2025.

Platforms

Alongside the announcement of Lords of the Fallen 2, it’s been confirmed that the game is being developed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and it will be an Epic Games Store exclusive on PC. The decision to forgo Steam is tied to Epic’s financial backing of the project in exchange for exclusive rights. Nevertheless, such exclusivity deals are typically temporary, so a Steam version could emerge six months to a year post-launch.

Trailers

As Lords of the Fallen 2 is just entering its full production phase, there are currently no images or trailers available for viewing.

Insights from a financial report by CI Games reveal that Lords of the Fallen 2 will implement various enhancements compared to its predecessors in an effort to attract a broader audience. This includes a fresh art style, an evolved narrative, and elevated production standards. We’ll have to see how these updates manifest in the final game.

The game will again offer a single-player option alongside a co-op campaign, mirroring the gameplay of its predecessor.

In terms of game mechanics, it is expected to adhere to the established soulslike formula while likely maintaining its dark fantasy aesthetic.

Preorder

With 2026 still a ways off—if Lords of the Fallen 2 sticks to this timeframe—it will be a while before preorders are made available. We will keep you updated as soon as more information arises.
