Paramount has unveiled the teaser for The Naked Gun, a fresh take on the beloved action-comedy classic.
Liam Neeson steps into the role of Lt. Frank Drebin Jr., following in the footsteps of his father, the iconic Frank Drebin, previously portrayed by Leslie Nielsen. Neeson’s character is set on taking over the Police Squad legacy.
The trailer kicks off with a hostage crisis unfolding within a bank. As law enforcement surrounds the building, a young girl licking a lollipop enters. One of the armed robbers asks, “What do you want, kid?” She pulls off her mask to reveal Drebin, who confidently retorts, “Your ass.” Using her lollipop as an unconventional weapon, she goes on to thwart the criminals and save the day.
True to the spirit of the original Naked Gun humor, the footage concludes with Drebin striking a pose in a skirt, humorously revealing her feminine undergarments.
Set to be one of the most eagerly awaited comedies of 2025, The Naked Gun features a star-studded cast including Neeson, Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, CCH Pounder, Kevin Durand, Cody Rhodes, Liza Koshy, Eddie Yu, and Danny Huston.

Directed by The Lonely Island’s Akiva Schaffer, The Naked Gun is based on a screenplay he co-authored with Dan Gregor and Doug Mand. This reboot is produced by Seth MacFarlane of American Dad, alongside Erica Huggins.
Drawing inspiration from Police Squad!, the short-lived 1982 ABC comedy created by David Zucker, Jim Abrahams, and Jerry Zucker, The Naked Gun franchise was ignited when Nielsen reprised his role in the successful 1988 film The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!, which earned over $152 million against a $12 million budget. The franchise also includes two sequels: The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear (1991) and Naked Gun 33⅓: The Final Insult (1994).
Described as “the single most important Naked Gun movie since the other Naked Gun movies,” Neeson’s installment is set to hit theaters on August 1, 2025.
