Leonardo DiCaprio takes center stage in the newly released trailer for One Battle After Another, the tenth feature from writer-director Paul Thomas Anderson.
In this film, DiCaprio portrays Bob Ferguson, a revolutionary searching for his daughter. The trailer opens with DiCaprio, donning a mustache, beanie, and bathrobe, at a payphone. He tries to connect with his allies using coded language. When those attempts fall through, the action escalates, filled with gunfire, high-speed car chases, and heists. The preview culminates with DiCaprio’s Ferguson urgently seeking assistance from Benicio del Toro’s character.
“Viva la revolución!” DiCaprio shouts before making his exit from the building.
One Battle After Another features a star-studded cast, including DiCaprio, del Toro, Sean Penn, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Chase Infiniti, Wood Harris, and Alana Haim.
Anderson not only directs but also writes the screenplay, alongside producers Sara Murphy and the late Adam Somner, who passed away due to thyroid cancer in November. This film is dedicated in honor of Somner.

One Battle After Another marks Anderson’s first feature film since 2021’s Licorice Pizza, which received three Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay.
Speculation suggests that One Battle After Another draws inspiration from Thomas Pynchon’s 1990 novel, Vineland. If this is accurate, it will be Anderson’s second adaptation of a Pynchon work, following 2014’s Inherent Vice.
With an estimated budget of $140 million, One Battle After Another stands as Anderson’s largest project to date. Warner Bros. initially planned to release the film in August, but has now postponed it to September 26, 2025. While not officially confirmed, there are rumors of a debut at a fall film festival, potentially in Venice or Telluride.
