Iran’s top leader stated that the current relations with the United States are “impossible to resolve,” emphasizing that Tehran will never submit to Washington’s pressure amid tensions over its nuclear activities. According to state media reports on Sunday, Iran has halted nuclear negotiations with the U.S. following a 12-day conflict in June, during which Israel and the U.S. targeted Iranian nuclear facilities.
This comes after Iran and European nations reached an agreement on Friday to restart negotiations aimed at reviving the deal to limit Tehran’s nuclear advancements. Khamenei accused external forces of trying to make Iran compliant with America, asserting, “The Iranian people will stand firm against those who harbor such misguided expectations.” He further criticized calls for Iran to avoid slogans against the U.S. and to engage in direct talks, declaring that “this problem is unsolvable.”
France, the UK, and Germany have warned they might invoke a “snapback” mechanism at the United Nations to reimpose sanctions if Iran does not return to negotiations. While Western countries allege Iran is progressing toward nuclear weapons development, Iran maintains its nuclear program is solely for peaceful energy purposes.
