Now that Daredevil is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), it was only a matter of time before we saw another member of the Defenders join him. The first to make a comeback is Krysten Ritter, who will reprise her role as Jessica Jones in the upcoming season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again.
The news broke during Disney’s upfront presentation on Tuesday afternoon in New York. Ritter took the stage alongside Daredevil: Born Again star Charlie Cox to discuss the new season.
“It’s so great to be back, returning to Jessica after three seasons and The Defenders and now joining the MCU,” Ritter expressed (via Variety). “I’m thrilled to bring back this iconic character, and without giving too much away, there’s a lot more in store for Jessica Jones. This season is going to be incredible!”
As a private investigator endowed with superhuman strength, Jessica Jones runs her own detective agency. Krysten Ritter portrayed the titular role in Jessica Jones across three seasons, along with one season of The Defenders. Both series originally aired on Netflix, and after their cancellation, Disney+ acquired the rights to Netflix’s Marvel content in March 2022, allowing for their integration into the MCU.

Charlie Cox, known for his role as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, has already reprised his character from Netflix’s Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Meanwhile, Vincent D’Onofrio returned as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in Hawkeye.
These returns have set the stage for some thrilling encounters in Daredevil: Born Again. The first season, consisting of nine episodes, concluded this past April on Disney+. Several characters from the Netflix series also appeared in the Disney+ version, including Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page and Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher.
Filming for season 2 is currently underway and is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in 2026.
