Iran has restricted its airspace, allowing only official international flights with authorization, according to flight tracking website Flightradar24 on Wednesday amid ongoing tensions with Washington. The restriction was fixed for just over two hours, as reported on Flightradar24’s social media.
This measure follows a Western military source informing Reuters that “all indications point to an imminent U.S. strike.” The official noted, “…but that’s also characteristic of this administration’s unpredictable behavior, designed to keep everyone alert.” Two European officials mentioned a potential U.S. military intervention within the next 24 hours. An Israeli official indicated it seemed President Trump had decided on intervention, though precise plans and timing hadn’t been confirmed.
President Donald Trump recently addressed the situation cautiously, suggesting that fears of broader conflict escalating from Iran’s protests might be overblown. He mentioned being told that the violence from Iran’s crackdown is decreasing and that there are no current plans for mass executions. When asked who provided this information, Trump referred to “very important sources on the other side.” Trump did not exclude the possibility of military action, noting, “We’re monitoring the situation” and highlighting that Iran had issued a “very good statement.”
In a prior televised interview, Trump warned that the U.S. would take “very strong action” if Iran proceeded with executing detained protesters amid widespread unrest. Tehran responded by warning neighboring nations that host U.S. troops to prepare for retaliation if Washington moves forward with threats to intervene in Iranian protests.
