Infinity Nikki Launches In December With 30 Million Preregistrations

Infinity Nikki, poised to be one of the top games of 2024, finally has a release date. This open-world gacha game will debut on PC, mobile platforms, and PlayStation 5 on December 5.

This date holds special significance for the Infold Games team, part of Papergames, as it marks the 12th anniversary of the series, which began with Nikki Up2U: A Dressing Story in 2012. Infinity Nikki is the fifth installment in the series and notably the first to transition from mobile-exclusive gameplay. It also breaks the mold as the first entry not solely focused on dress-up mechanics. While dress-up features remain integral, Infinity Nikki has evolved from a free-to-play casual mobile experience into a full-fledged platforming and open-world exploration title that integrates gacha elements.

The game has been touted as the “coziest open-world experience,” a sentiment reflected in recent previews. Many have noted its relaxed atmosphere compared to other free-to-play gacha titles like Genshin Impact and Zenless Zone Zero. In fact, our reviewer highlighted it as one of the standout games at PAX West this year. Players can expect an adventure through Miraland alongside Nikki and her feline companion, Momo, engaging in platforming, photography, and light combat.

Runhao Yao, producer and founder of the studio, shared a letter announcing the release date, describing the project as “one-of-a-kind” and detailing the challenges faced by the development team as they transitioned to Unreal Engine 5 while creating a new style of gameplay. Yao stated, “It’s been tough, but our determination carried us through. Our team has always believed in taking on the impossible, and because this was a Nikki project, we were even more motivated and inspired to pursue ‘infinity’ with everything we had.”

Infold Games revealed that the title has already surpassed 30 million preregistrations following a successful closed beta in October. As a result, players can look forward to exclusive preregistration rewards that include 50,000 Blings, 300 Threads of Purity, 20 Resonite Crystals, and a four-star outfit named “Far and Away.” With the excitement surrounding Infinity Nikki, further rewards are anticipated in the near future.
