A man in southern India violently murdered his estranged wife at a women’s hostel and then took a selfie with her lifeless body, as reported by NDTV. The victim, Sripriya, worked for a private company in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, and had separated from her husband, Balamurugam, who was from Tirunelveli.
Police authorities stated that the suspect arrived at the hostel on Sunday afternoon, hiding a sickle beneath his clothing, seeking to meet her. An argument ensued shortly after their meeting, escalating into violence when Balamurugam drew the sickle and fatally attacked her. After the assault, he took a photo with her body and shared it on WhatsApp, accusing her of betrayal.
The scene of the crime caused widespread panic and chaos within the hostel. The suspect did not attempt to flee and remained at the scene until police arrived, subsequently being arrested there. The murder weapon was recovered. Initial investigations suggest that Balamurugam suspected his wife was involved with another man.
